Outreach Opportunities
2008
The Missions Team vision is that all Community Groups will desire to glorify God, show the love of Christ through outreach opportunities, and have a passion for the lost. We hope that each group will participate in one outreach event each quarter. Your group will be blessed as you bless others. Please call Linda Miller at the office 770-786-2048 or e-mail Linda@eccmail.org for information regarding project opportunities.
Obedience to Scripture
To fulfill the Great Commission of Christ.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)
To minister to human needs.
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’”
Matthew 25:35-40 (NIV)
To show the love of Christ to Covington and to the ends of the earth:
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my
witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts 1:8 (NIV)
Outreach Opportunities
Rainbow Ministry (Homeless Shelter):
Prepare dinner for residents (60) and serve at the shelter. Sometimes there is food at the shelter to prepare, or you may fund this project yourself or get donations from local restaurants. Food needs to be delivered by 6:00. At this time evenings that are taken are every other Tuesday, Monday & Thursday. Please keep in your prayers as Rainbow Ministry is in the process of relocating in a new location in Covington. By the first of October there will be many projects to help in this move. Details will be coming in October.

Consider the following in your
small group:
Sharing the testimony of what Christ has done in your life should be shared naturally with everyone you meet and live with in your community. Keep in mind that your community doesn’t only know you by the words you speak, but also the actions you take. Living, sharing and caring should go hand in hand. Your neighbors will know of your faith by the way you live, care and reach out in the community.
Evangelism (Community Groups carrying out the Gospel of Christ):
FISH FOR CHRIST is a ministry that takes the Gospel to the streets. Our main focus is one on one
witnessing with strangers and open-air preaching. Matthew 10:27 “Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops.” We are also dedicated to training you how to share your faith effectively, the way Jesus did. We teach you techniques that are very biblical and will give you the confidence to share your faith in any situation. We can meet with you or your group for one hour each week for 8 weeks (this schedule is changeable to suit your needs) and have you fully equipped to share your faith. Not only do you learn the scriptural approaches to evangelism, you get to join us to watch how it is done. You will never be fearful to share your faith again.
