I was born in Marietta, but I’ve lived in Covington since I was 4 or 5. I’m an alumnus of the University of Georgia, and I fanatically follow pretty much any sport they participate in, not just football. I'm a Disney nerd and proud of it - my family instilled love for anything Disney in me almost as much as they instilled faith in Jesus. Our family goes to at Disney World at least once a year (as often as we can afford to go).
I come from a long line of ministry service. My grandfather on my dad's side was a pastor, and my grandfather on my mom's side served for years as an elder, deacon, and church leader. My family has been involved in church as long as I can remember. I'm in my second go-round on staff; I was part of the staff from 2004 to 2010, and the Lord led me back in the fall of 2014. I’m also part of the founding families of Eastridge, and I’m always amazed by what God keeps doing here.
In addition to my duties as Director of Communications, I serve on the Creative Arts team. I direct the Sunday morning services on the Covington Campus, so you can find me in the booth working with a terrific crew of volunteers. And you can catch me on stage leading worship from time to time!
Oh, and I’m a published author – my first book, Football, Faith, And Flannery O’Connor: A Love Letter To The South, came out in August 2015.
Favorite music: My musical tastes are pretty eclectic. My favorites include The Beatles, Zac Brown Band, Melanie Penn, and my latest musical obsession, Liz Vice.
Favorite movies: Apollo 13, anything Star Wars, (except for the awful prequels), the first two Godfather films, Big Hero 6, High & Low (an incredible Japanese crime film from the early 60s)
Favorite authors: Flannery O’Connor, Shusaku Endo, Ayako Miura, C.S. Lewis, Lee Smith, Vince Flynn
Favorite TV shows: Friday Night Lights will forever and always be my favorite show. I also love Survivor, MasterChef and Nashville, along a British show called The Hour and a Welsh series called Hinterland.
Favorite scripture (or one that speaks to your life) and why: Proverbs 28:1b –“…the righteous are as bold as a lion.” Ever since I discovered that verse a couple of years ago, I’ve seen that truth in my life. The more I pursue my relationship with God, the bolder He makes me.
