Becoming a Christian is the most important decision anyone can ever make, and God’s plan of salvation is simple enough for everyone to understand.

What does the Bible say about becoming a Christian?

·  God loves you.

This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

1 John 4:10 (NLT)

·  Sin is choosing your way instead of God's way.

·  Sin separates you from God.

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

Romans 3:23 (NLT)

· God sent Jesus so you would not have to die for your sin. Jesus died on the cross, He was buried, and He rose from the dead.

For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16 (NLT)

How to become a Christian:

A—ADMIT

· Admit to God that you are a sinner.

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

Romans 3:23 (NLT)

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23 (NLT)

· Repent, turning away from your sin.

Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.

Acts 3:19 (NLT)

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

1 John 1:9 (NLT)

B—BELIEVE

· Believe that Jesus is God's Son and accept God's gift of forgiveness from sin.

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Romans 5:8 (NLT)

There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.

Acts 4:12 (NLT)

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

John 14:6 (NLT)

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT)

C—CONFESS

· Confess your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved… For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Romans 10:9-10,13 (NLT)

Is it time for you to become a Christian?

God's Holy Spirit will help you know if you are ready to become a Christian. If it is not time for you to become a Christian, put this information away until later. If it is time for you to become a Christian, pray a prayer such as the one below. The prayer itself does not save you—your faith in Jesus does—but it’s a good way to declare your faith in Him.

Dear God: I know I have sinned and that my sin separates me from You. I am sorry for my sin. I believe Jesus died on the cross for me so my sin can be forgiven. I believe Jesus rose from the dead and is alive. God, please forgive me. I ask Jesus to come into my life and be my Savior and Lord. I will obey You and live for You the rest of my life. Thank You. Amen.

· Will you ever sin again?

Yes. Everyone sins. When you do sin, ask God to forgive you and to help you obey Him. Ask Him, and He will!

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

1 John 1:9 (NLT)

· Will you ever have to become a Christian again?

No. When you ask Jesus to be your Savior and Lord, salvation lasts forever. Remember this promise from God:

I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.

Hebrews 13:5b (NLT)
